Does anyone know what the deal with the propeller is? Has some kind of aftermarket hub been installed?

I dont remember how many bearings the ntermediate housing has on it's shaft.
but that housing is the rear engine mount so be aware of that if you remove the big ring from outside the boat. The diagram did not have descriptions to go along with the numbered parts

Thanks for your reply and the diagram.

By "big ring" are you refering to # 37 or 38?

37. The intermediate housing has a big o-ring on it that butts into the transom assembly on the inside, the intermediat hoising tailstock goes thru the transom assembly and the u joint belllow connects to it.

then there is another big o- ring on the outside, number 37 is the ring-plate that bolts go thru and into the intermediate housing both compressing the o-rings to seal the water out and it functions as the rear engine mount.

Fun fact that/those o rings, ring plate and intermediate housing was the only engine mount on the 4 cylinder volvo engine outdrive package, it just hung there.

Bet those o-rings are NLA so treat them like gold

Thanks again for the info.

I have just found online that Lancers had an extended PDS housing to move the engine forward around 3-3.5" for performance. It was called a Holman Moody housing. Could not find exact photos of the flywheel cover mine has. I will just have to pull the transmission and see what I have before ordering parts.

I would also search hi and low for an aq 270 outdrive and transom assembly manual so yoi can follow procedures and torque specs.
Plenty of old timers around who might have some good info and know where a box of parts are. Other websites probably dedicated to that chris craft lancer and the chris craft x21,
there would be a wealth of info and spare parts as well.
keep us updated.
