Pat says 80. I would do in a heart beat if I could, and will soon as I can. Resale on blue motors don't out weigh the price new and the ins cost. You have to remember what a rebuild cost also. What are they saying about 500efi and 525 motors and the valve train after 200 or so hours? Havn't heard a thing about 496s, kinda like the old 454 mag and 502s maintain them and they will give great service for a long long time. I had a blue motor and I won't doit again. Unless I hit the lotto. 33 w/496HOs is the perfect boat

I was expecting to get blasted for even thinking this, but the first two relpies are encouraging.
Don't forget you can build them without a cabin liner which saves 800 pounds as well.

If top speed is not really a factor, I would go with the 496's. You should look at mine Mack, I don't have a liner and the boat is a lot larger on the inside, where it really shows is in the v-berth, huge difference. If I were to build a new boat I would build it without the liner, and build my own motors.
I bought mine from Pat in 03 without motors and put them in myself , turned out perfect. Could not asked for a better combination. Get it on order!!!!!

Macklin, go for it! Brian has no complaints about 496s in Monsoon says it runs great and I belive he has a liner and as far as resale goes he has guys waiting for him to sell. I really think that if you are not look'n to run in the 90s then it is the way to go a great alround package. I can only dream about it now but someday hell I'm in line for Monsoon

I've spoken to Brian at length. He claims he gets 2 mpg at cruise. If true, that's incredible! I have to really stay out of the throttles to get that with my PQ. But all indications are the AT hull is one efficient mofo.
I just wish AT had built one of these packages. I get the impression they are excited about maybe getting the chance to do so. I would be the guinee (sp?) pig.
I certainly wouldn't even be considering it if Merc didn't offer the warranty with the CMI's.

I am thinking 80-82 with CMI. You want the boat to have Brian’s X dimension. He has the best I seen running 4 blades. Resale is what someone is willing to pay for it....Custom boats. What paint option are they offering?
