So how many Merc 525efi's have dropped a valve at 80 hours? Just mine. Had 1 month left on the warranty thanks to Dad, (Pat).

New motor is in. Ran it for the first time last weekend. Thanks to my good friend Pete Nopper at Nopper Marine, the boat looks as if it's never been touched. Superb work Pete!

Can't believe I've gotta break a new motor in all over again at 80 hours.

Was there any sign of a loose rocker or a broken valve spring keeper ? Don't these 525s have stainless valves in them ?
