Default speed and handling of a 27 Victory

I was wondering if you guys could help on some questions. What kinds of speed could a person expect from a 27 Victory with 800 hp...how would it handle at high speeds and in general how do they ride? thanks

That's crazy how that works..at 228 more horses u probably were disipointed with only a 5mph gain..have you had the bottom of the hull looked at to see if that may be an issue?..Do you experience any chine walk at higher speeds?

Mine rides great and handles like a slot car, but at 575 hp it is rather slow at 63mph. It is possibly for sale though.

I would have thought a 27 w/575 would be faster. Is the 27 a fairly heavy boat? I know my 32 is fat, but still gets close to 80 with twin 496s.

I think the 27 has a little hook in the hull, I know the 30 does, this needs taken out to get better performance, the 32 doesnt have the hook.

Yes the 27 does have a little bit of hook in the hull and thats how they get them to ride nice with no tabs. Problem is the hook isn't very good for 80+mph. With 620hp originally in my boat, fastest I ever saw was 73 and handled great. With 800+ now, I've seen 86, but handling is very dependent on load. The more fuel the better (lower center of gravity). Overall the boat rides very nice, its nice to cruise at 60mph not even stressing anything.

The 32 is a newer design and also has a triple step hull whereas the 27 only has a single step. That helps the 32 go a little faster. Mind you the 27 was originally designed in 1991 when the biggest motor you could put in it was about 450hp...I don't think they evisioned us putting 800+hp in these
