Default Box on a 2600

I was wondering if anyone has used an extension box with a shortened drive. I just took delivery of a 94' 2600. I am going to spend the cold winter in St. Louis completly rebuilding it. The Steering is a single ram hynautic so I am upgrading and wondered if it was worth the additional $$$ to get a box. Any suggestions on this and any other upgrades would be appreciated. Art

Congrats and welcome to the AO family. You will really enjoy your boat!! From the discussions I have observed,a box with a shorty will definetly pick up the performance of the 2600. I really can't provide any numbers though. I think there is someone on the board that has done this to theirs. If you decide to get rid of the steering you have now, I would be interested in it! What power do you have?.......Or are you going to have?

I'm doing a full rig on a Firehawk hull. For the sake of argument we can say that this hull is comparable to the AO. I'm running a shortened bravo and a Stellings extension box. My wild guess prop shaft height is 1" above the bottom. Unfortinatly, I havn't splashed the boat as of yet, but hope to this weekend. I'll update you with the results.

OK, I havn't had the chance to do any bonzi runs yet...but the planing is really incredible! Even with the high x-dim, the boat still planed out with absolutly no slippage.
