Re: Boss Cougar T53 Turbine Project
Im just curious, are you going to put a little diesel kicker motor in the center for low speed maneuvering and no wake zones? I heard the turbines use 40 or 60 % as much fuel idling as on plane, Ive dreamed of buying big 1980's cat cheap and putting a pair of turbines in it and using 100 gals fuel to make it through a no-wake zone would really suck!

I have an 85' Chris Craft 260 Stinger that I'm putting a T53 in to. I'm making a custom secondary gearbox so I can run 2 TRS's (Konrad 540's, w Imco lowers)
Anyone else on OSO doing a turbine conversion?
I would like to hear from you....

Call John Arruda"when lines get up" Turbine Marine, has a way to make the turbines very friendly around the docks without all the extra motors and shiftable. Pretty trick setup goto the www.amfoffshoreracing.com site and check out the 51 outerlimits turbine power no poney motors to move it and very friendly at the docks and loading on a trailer. Fuel consumption sucks at idle but gets more efficient as you go up in rpm.

Tom... Might want to give us a call as well. we have a computer control system designed for turbine engines that is very similar to the FADEC found on all new modern day turbines for jets and helicopters. (Full Authority Digital Electronic Control) Links to a sunlight viewable LCD panel for instrumentation (Or conventional Livorsi gauges)
There are a few ways to get it right easy around the dock. Our recommendation is currently the SCS Turbine box that Mike builds. Buttons right on to the front of the T-53 and hooks up to a #6 or one of Mikes #8 drives. Haven't had a chance to try any of the automatic transmissions yet so I can't give an opinion on them.
Give us a call if you are so inclined or just check out what we have to say about turbines www.thefirestormgroup.com
Good luck with the boat, she's gonna be a beauty...
