The next time we hit the good satallite I will check that link out.

As far as te boat goes I think it's in Ft. L.
It's at Custom Marine.

Yeah I had heard that some hulls didn't work well with surface drives. To much hook or something like that.

.
IMO #6S would be the bomb however the 1st time they burp the wrong way it will be costly or so Im told. This whole thing is a double edge sword, pick your poison wisely.

If you dont beat the thing like a race boat lookin for the championship you should be just fine.Ive spent alot of time on the phone asking ?s with the whos who of this industry after bringing the Chief home. And they all basically said the same thing if you beat the crap out of it all the time something will fail. This statement is true no matter what you bring home.

It will reqiure more maintenence do not kid yourself but what you will have is a truly unique 1 of a kind bada$$ rough water king.

The first time me and my wife rode in a 41 was at the sea trial on the Chief. That was all it took.

I can honestly say niether one of us would trade it for anything but maybe a 47.

Sweet

I saw that video finally, that boat was rockin'.

I really like the 41 hull I know that it is way more than I will ever need up on the lakes where I live but I still like it.

Do Apache's have trouble with stress cracks like the other boats seem to?

The new Konrad III/IIIA conversion should increase the value of the boat IMHO......

The Konrad won't hold the power you need to move a 41 the way you'd want it to move. That's the problem with the 3 drive. The Konrad will be perfect for the 750hp guy who doesn't want or need a 6 upgrade but also doesn't want to throw more $$ into an obsolete drive.

At 650hp on the 3 you figure it's OK for another hundred as-is with good maintenance. Then you decide another 50 won't hurt it but it ends up being an extra 50. Then you figure a little hard running should be OK. Now youre at 850 and hammering it here & there figuring all will be OK. It's not.

The hardest part of this sport is doing major repairs on something that's seemingly working perfectly. At least the motors give you some sign that things aren't at 100%. A re-shim on a set of 3's isn't cheap if the guy doing it is any good.

On the #6 drive, I believe the service interval is 200 or 250 hours @ 1000 hp. pleasure use, 100 hrs race use.

On "stress cracks", you can break anything. There's a difference between the gel coat cracks and structural failures. All these boats flex and you'll get gel cracks in some places. You can also get carried away and do damage to a hull. Nothing lasts forever but an Apache will get you the closest.

This particluar boat has 750 hp engines....50 hp under what Konrad calls a conservative rating of 800 hp. How fast "you'd" want it to move is your opinion, let's leave that up to a buyer on how fast they want it to go or how fast they believe is right.

In the 10+ years this boat was in the area I recall a drive problem one time. He ran the boat the way it was supposed to be run in rough water, enough so that he developed quite a reputation for his abilities.

If a potential buyer wants to go faster then sure.....put some #6's on it..... If I wanted more power and wanted to go faster I'd put 6's on my boat too... This boat ran 78 mph with labbed props, which for some is fast enough....wich is enough for some but not enough for others, and if it isn't then this probably isn't the right boat for them...

My comments were't directed at this or any other specific boat- more towards Barb's discussion about a #6 conversion.

As far as speed, rarely do you run across someone in the performance boating world who doesn't want "5 more MPH" and once they get it, they want another. My observation on the Konrad was that I didn't think it would be a viable alternative for a guy who has 3's and is considering 6's.

And this is from a guy who has a set of Konrads on order right now.
