You could put this on for under 20k and be the coolest apache brave ever conceived.

I talked to Rick and he has a standoff box for this.

I would leave the Bravos alone. Even if you broke 5 of them in 5 years it would be cheaper than doing the conversion and the odds are not that good that you will break one anyway.

While were talking about outdrives........ What do you think about putting on a pair of arneson surface drives and a pair of 400hp small blocks?

Expenses and age of boat set aside.

I think you are still going to be underpowered, but the arnesons would be awesome.

I would put the arnesons and then put some 900hp BB's in it.

I bet it would get a little sqirrely around90ish

There used to have a 30 sutphen down here with arnesons and 350hp small blocks that was almost 80.

The Apache we did the conversion on was a 33' warrior. Panther is right it was a Trs to 540 Hp conversion. The shorter x dimension worked great with a set of 4 blades. It did get it some more top end mph.. It ran a solid 80 afer the conversion with blown 509's.. Last year he upped the engines & I was told he was running in the 90's.. Also yes as mentioned earlier by panther & I a bravo to 540 would require a box & trannys.. Therefore the ace set up would be the way to go if it were to get done.. Jamie / Lakeside

there will be another drive option in the near future. i heard illmor is developing a new drive that can handle 700+ hp. supposed to be a year away from release.....

but again there is no "economical" reason to change from bravos on a 28 apache imo.

Konrad ACE is much more than 10k per side.
Standard 540 w/ gimbal is in the 12 range, plus install.

If ya really wanted to end up spending big bucks on a 28apache, the right way would be to buy Riggs' and throw merc 700s+NXT... new boat and new power.

Yes, Ace is certainly more than the 540 but "list price" and "street price" are two different things.

Mel has had that boat for some time. He doesn't even seem to want to discuss parting with it. That would be one hell of a combination though. How about in 3-man/staggered?
