I do want to pull the Bravo 1 and go over them, I may keep them, as for power I think twin 650 will be the ticket, I may just do the cosmetic items this year and wait to the motor, I am not sure if I will have the time to get into the motor before spring. In any case I got a great deal on a great boat. I heard the weight of the 1988 model was around 9,000 lbs?? and that was from Bob S.
Bigboat28 - I paid $560 for the survey, but I got it back in the price and most sellers will knock off the $500 after the survey..........there is always something.

For power I was thinking of throwing in some 400hp small blocks, or maybe that 550hp aluminum 454 raylar was talking about. 1000lbs off the back end is a lot. BUT thats a long ways away.

I don't know about the Konrads or ace on a 28? I would have to think that the extra wieght in the back would be an issue. Also with XR's and the boat being 7400 lbs, I would think as long as you where decent on the sticks and not much more than 750 hp they would live for a while.
There's a ;ot of 38 and 42 running xr with 600 hp and getting by.
I'm looking at upgrading to the xr's right now, and definitely don't want any problems -- but don't think the konrads or ace are going to be the answer. I hope I'm not too wrong

The 28 is a solid, hefty boat. They're deeper than anything else that size and they aren't light. I think they weigh about the same as a Fountain 35, IIRC. The extra weight of the transmissions would be insignificant to the performance of the boat.
Standard Bravos on a boat of that weight are going to be intolerant of hard starts and throttle mistakes when leaving/re-entering the water with anything over 450-500 hp. 600's will make the boat sing. 750's would make it haul a$$.

This is one of the reasons I mentioned the Konrads.. But if he is not an overly agressive driver & ie easy on the sticks in those situations he will probably be ok.. Jamie
