I think I remember someone stating that there is about a 10% extra speed when switching to the arneson drive's with the larger surface prop's .
also if I remember correctly '' to much partying in my youth "
the hustler 38 with 525's ran around 10 mph faster with the surface drive vs the bravo xr style .

DrGaryDC. I prefer to run the props out which is backwards for Arnesons. The boat handles well until a little over a hundred then you gotta pay attention. I don't thinks its an Arneson issue, I think the 1986 Cigarette is about maxed out.
cougarman. These are old drives off of one of Gentry's race cats.
Panther. I never dynoed them but my guess would be a little over 800hp a side.

I wonder if #5's would be the easiest upgrade if you're trying to raise the X dimension to gain speed. That would raise your bullet a lot higher than it is now and you could space down if needed. Probably the easiest upgrade I would think?

I was checking out the apache in the Solomon's island pits and it looked like the drives were pretty high. I imagine 5's would end up too high since they are 6" shorter than the 3a's that are on it.

A 41 should fare well with Arnesons and I have many times wondered why they weren't tried already. Maybe Bobby S would be the source to ask or just measure your rocker. Richie Stuphen surely would give advice also.
We talked many hours once about this particular issue a few years ago on general terms and he cemented my belief that a boat with enough rocker and even a delta pad do not need steps...
