Default knees talk problem

What are the knees on the 28 Apache hull that you guys are always talking about being cracked? Are alot of them cracked?

Where the stringers connect to the transom it is not perpendicular, there is a diagonal "knee" at the stringer/transom joint. They are generally required on outboard powered boats so can look at the bilge of just about any outboard powerboat and see the same knee's except they are smaller on the 28 Apache cause you don't have quite the bilge space of an outboard boat.
