Interesting thread guys .... Pete .... I was reading your posts ... and knowing what was coming next .... I don't know too much about the Formula's except that my wife really want's a 400SS ... Did the SeaRay thing for a couple years when our first boy came along ... thought it would be a cool way to get the whole "family" and friends out on the water ... YAWWWN ... They are the sum of too many parts ... Drove me nuts !!!
Got caught up in the whole "Apache" thing in a round about sorta way .... the builder whom I was "in bed" with so to speak (had baught a few of their boats already) Saber , purchased the 41 molds and It was just the next "logical" (yeah right) step up in their line ... That was 1997... since then I've been in a handfull of the 41 "Apache" hulls along with the Cigs, Scarabs, Formulas, ect... The 41 hull seems to have the right "sweet spot' for most of the rough water running we encounter here in the Great Lakes ... and you and MM had the right idea about the pleasure/race version ... and WickedWon is a perfect example ... LESS IS MORE ... Unless your talking bulkheads and stringers ... Thanks for sharing ... I really enjoy watching your AllezVite running on the Freezeframe videos !!!

Re: allez vite
Apache race boat, for sure!
For all of the obvious reasons.
And I can only wonder what Allez Vite would do today with dry-sump 6's and 1500 HP Sterlings. If she went 104 with 1000's and wet-sump drives, I'd think she'd see 130 today, even without steps. Probably not a wise thing to do, without canopies, however!
If that power were available 13 years ago, we could probably have beaten the 40 Skaters, even when it wasn't rough. Wouldn't that have been something?
