Default Electric Power Steering Pump

Does anyone know of a 12volt power steering pump? I have a Powerquest 290 Enticer. I have full hydraulic steering and it runs off of the standard belt driven pump of the starboard engine. I don't have the serpentine setup and would like to get rid of the power steering pumps and belts.

TBH, I think you're opening a rather expensive can of worms. 12v Electric steering can be done, but that's a lot of force with large motors, short wire runs, etc etc. It's very cool, slick, and an awesome system, if your rig comes that way factory. If you have a belt driven pump today that works just fine, I'd vote leave it alone. But if you're hell bent on doing it, I'll watch

Yup. I looked around and decided to stick with what I have. I did buy the IMCO Twin Engine, Twin Power Steering Pump Priority Valve assembly that will let the power steering be operated by both engines. The electric pump sounded like a good idea.

Thanks for your info. I took a look and the cost is way more than I thought it would be. I will stick with the basics. Thanks again for your help.

Tesla has been doing electric over hydraulic steering since they started. I have seen some hot rods adapting this system, it may be something we will be seeing more of in the marine world shortly.

Volvo is another option. A few companies make stand alone controllers for them now. I was thinking about doing it on my street car.

Verado outboards use an electric over hydraulic pump that I have seen retrofit into a stern drive boat.

Any new info on this subject? I bought two 8LV 370 Yanmars from Mastry last winter to repower a 40 CC. Recently uncrated them and realized the dealer sold me the inboard versions despite knowing I had a stern drive set up. The inboard version has no power steering hardware and is not readily convertible.
Theres no simple solution because the sterndrive units have an exhaust configuration thats equally problematic. They are working on a quote on a hybrid set up but Im not really wanting to go down that road with this shop.
They suggested electric but Im not aware of any compatible with #6 drives.
Looking in to it as a long shot before I return the engines and start over.

Here is what Imco had to say about using the 421-32 with #6 drive.

It certainly will, but max helm control size is 80cc/pump which would be 6.5 turns lock to lock with a single M6 and 1 pump. I'll attach a 2 pump option.
in response to :"Also I`m looking at 421-32, what is the availability on those ? (Id have to see if thats enough volume for a #6 drive)"

Part numbers are from CP
