Just curious if anyone has experimented with boxes or shorties on thier 36 Outlaws? If so, what were your results?

The general consensus is that boxes do not really help at all.
Shorties should get you 1-2 mph but also increase the possibility of trouble getting on plane. I am adding 1" shorties to mine, so check back with me in May and I'll tell you if it was worth it or not.

I had a friend with an 01 36 Outlaw with 850 HP whippled engines and 1 inch shorter IMCO's and he ran in the low 90's.

I think the best he ever saw was 94. The boat planed and handled very well. He did everything at once and I cannot tell you if the lowers helped or not.

Here are some pictures.

I Put 2 Inch Lowers On And Could Not Get On Plane
When I Did It Slowed The Boat Down To Much Slip.

I think the only way shorties
w/o boxes are going to work
are with 5 blades.

Did you ever order a set of IMCO shorties? I ended up going with my local dealer since he will swap guts and install them too. I got a decent price...

Do you have boxes on your 33 outlaw? I see you have 575's, what props are you running and what speeds?

Haven't bought anything yet,
probably going with the Bravo shop
one's.

Mine has Stellings boxes,
with the 32 bravo's it will run 85
hitting the rev limiters.

With the 32 maximus's it ran 86-87
but was only turning 4900.

This is where the shorties come in
.....getting the 5 blades "dried out"
should pick up the rpm ( and, hopefully,
the speed)
