Default Question for 36 outlaw owners

Where do you trim to on your trim indicators to get the max speed. I seem to have to trim WAY too much.

What's Way To Much? I Trim At 5 Or 6 If You Have The Deeper X You Will Have To Trim Some Were Off The
Meter.

Bajarunner,

I have found that with my 4 blades on a 1999 with the " deep X" that I do not need as much trim as I did with the previous 3 blades. General cruising the best setting is at "neutral" plus or minus approx. a half pin on the guage. As far as for top speed goes around 6 to 7 for the way I am set up.

If you are feeling vibration that is a sure sign that you have over trimmed. Bump it back done a tad.

Best bet is to experiment with a GPS and your particular set up to see what is best for you.

Mark

The 36 DOES require a lot of trim.

I would not compare the trim indicator numbers too much because every boat is just a little different. You can adjust the actuators on the trim cylinders which will result in different readings.

We had problems with the stock set up and I went with an after market unit and I'm still not too pleased with it. If I had it to do over I would have bought the complete setup from Stainless Marine that reads off the top of the drive.

But I do have to bury the indicators (lots of trim) to get her rolling!

I would call Julie or Matt at Throttle up and work out the prop with them.

Make sure you have some good hard numbers as for speed, RPM, etc and that along with the type and size of the boat will tell them what they need to get you dialed in.

I did try a set of 28's last year that they labbed for a stepped hull boat with no cup and WOW, the slip was off the charts.

You do need some cup on your setup. But too much will show you down and will also be hard on your drives, especially when you launch and re-enter.

Good luck
