Question Paging Doc Hoilday

Doc,

Your the resident expert on 36 Outlaws. A couple of questions:

1. The midship bilge pump. How does it work? Off the bilge switch on the dash or is it automatic? I don't see a float. Is it in the pump? I had some water on the cabin floor coming out of the front scupper, I checked the bilge and it was full. The pump should have come,on, but it didn't, even when I hit the switch on the dash.

2. A while back you said that you changed the cabin door tracks and supports to stop the door rattle. Could you give me a parts list and maybe post some pics if you have them. I tried to adjust it, but it still rattles. This is something that will drive me nuts if I don't fix it soon.

Thank,

Bret

The bildge pump in the cuddy is automatic. There is not a switch for it. There is a float built inside the bottom of the pump. If it did not come on then you probably have a bad pump. I had to replace mine this season.

As for the door system, I have replaced mine with a Linear rail system like they are using on the new Cigarettes. I actually did it before they did!

However the only one that I can find that fits without any major modifications is steel and I have already had to replace mine once due to corrosion.

I will try to take some pictures tonight and post them along with the details. It works great and the door does "NOT" rattle, but it is expensive. The two rails and four block bearings cost me as a distributor right at $348.00.

This is a link to HiWin.

They are the cheapest I have found, cheaper then IKO and THK.

http://www.hiwin.com/lg/hg.html

These are the part numbers I used.

4pcs. HGH15CAZOH Linear Block Bearings
1pc. HGR15R1130H Linear Rail (short rail for top)
1pc. HGR15R1187H Linear Rail (long rail for bottom)

Believe me, I fully understand.

I even ordered new hardware from the company that built the door, SparTech Marine, thinking that mine had just worn out, but the new stuff was no better and it was $50.00 for 7 little plastic pieces!

It's not Baja parts, but Mercruiser parts.

If you need anything for your Mercury engine, outdrives, trim pumps, etc. then she is the one to call.

Hey Robbie,

Nope; they haven't shipped me the parts yet. They said Latham had to mill a new block. Yea, right.
Anyhow, I'll be pontooning it this weekend.
Going to Houston? Picking up something in a barn perhaps?
Pm me
