Ice Maker no worky. Ideas?
Well, I went down to the boat on Friday hoping to have an icemaker full of ice and had NOTHING.
Last weekend when I left the boat it was working fine - I turned it on and left. All I had when I got there was about 1" of water in the bottom of the ice tub...
I checked the fuses under the steering wheel and I also flipped the breakers back and forth on the power panel a few times. Nothing worked. It's as if it's getting no power at all - the compressor doesn't run, nothing. Like it's dead.
Any ideas? Loose wire? Are these easy to take out and trouble-shoot (it's under the cockpit sink in my 342)? Your help would be appreciated.

check to see if you have power at the unit. If so, your compressor may have grounded out (gone bad) if no power, start tracing.
also, if you do have power, bypass the low pressure switch. probably didnt all leak out in a week, but you never know.

I thought you were going to tell him he needed a BIGGER generator!

Doc,
I was saving that one for later. Sounds like the OL is doing well! I saw the thread on the sucking sound. I have had it occur in certain situations but it goes away. I run Marvel in mine with every tank. It seems to solve alot of ailments for a minimal investment. Got this from one of the Lucas crew years ago. I now buy it by the gallons. Who knows, I might start drinking it instead of Bacardi! It is definitely cheaper and who knows, it might lube a few joints!

I have used it before on small engines with good results. What ratio to you use in the 442?
Could get a little expensive, but if it saves repairs it would be worth it.
Hope all is well with you. I'm going to get down your way one of these days.

Yeah I think I'll take it apart this weekend and check for a loose wire. I find it hard to believe that the motor and compressor would have burned out in such a short period of time - I mean I've probably only had the thing turned on for a total of 8 days.

Doc,
I put a quart in with every 200 gallons. It worked so well in the 38 that when I purchased the 442 that I immediately started using marvel. I have not had any fuel related problems. Just keep the filters changed.
It is in the shop right now getting the shift cables replaced. I do not have an easy way to do it on my lift at the house. It was time to pull the drives and service so we are replacing all 3 cables while they were off. I have been getting about 200 hrs and then we have been seeing problems with binding. Had the same problem on both boats and it always starts with the starboard side for some reason. It is a lot cheaper than tearing up a drive.
You need to try and make one of the OPBA poker runs down here. We just had the July 4th run and it was a blast. There is one each year on 4th weekend and Labor Day. It is a lot of fun and not expensive compared to PRA. We really want to come to the Jacksonville FFR next year if we can find a trailer. I still have not purchased one as I hate to buy new and leave it out in the weather when it will only be used a couple times a year and plus I will have to pay storage fees.
