Default Anyone using a stern Jack on a Baja?

I've got one on mine and it seems to help. I know Smitty put an extension box on his and was disappointed. The guy that put it on said it was worth 3mph. That sounds right because I seem to run that much faster than similar setups on Bajas.

Several years ago I tried one on a Baja 260 and it did nothing. Sold it to a guy that had a 240 and it did nothing.

There was a Baja 272 at the APBA races in Washington, NC back in 2001 running in "P" class and they had one on their boat.

He claimed to really like it and felt that it improved both speed and handling.

I spoke to him a long time because we had a 272 at that time ourselves.

It is a pretty good product from what I have heard.

The stellings box pretty much sukked all the way around on my 272 but I have heard nothing but good things about stern jacks on 272's. I'm sorta scared to put one on mine without buying a hp gimbal assembly but I have bidded on several this year on E-bay (they are not available new) but they keep closing for 1500$ plus used. I have never seen a 272 go in the mid 80's with a 502 or 509 and m-1 procharger like yours ken so I'm sure its giving you something,Smitty

It's actually an M3-SC with the big intercooler like yours. I swear when I worked the heads and put that "741" Crane cam in it, it scared the sh*t out of me when I fired it off! It sounds so much healthier. It was a struggle last year to get in the 80mph range. This year, full of gas and 4 people It still runs 83mph! The trick is going to be keeping it together!!

I must have mixed you up with someone else,I was wondering how you broke into the 80's with a 272 and a m-1. Keeping it together is the easy part ,just keep your fuel right and use good parts ,Smitty

This year my odds are better, I have a gauge on everything! The only problem is watching all of them going that fast. This past weekend it was hot and humid, only got 82mph with 4 people and 3/4 tank of gas.

Kennyo,

You bringing that bad boy to Knoxville in July for the rally this year?

I think I might ride with a friend of mine up there.
