342 or 38 special Head/Shower question
I have noticed in alot of ad's for these two models that the faucet pulls out of the sink to allow for a shower. Is there a drain in the floor? Does the water go to a thru-hull ftg or into a tank? Can you even take a shower???

I have a 342. Yes there is a drain in the floor. It drains directly out of the boat. There is enough room if you sit on the toilet. Not really enough for me, 6'1" and 180, but the wife and kids use it.

We love the 342. Just the right size, great ride, speed, and all the comfort features.
If your looking for a for a great, clean, loaded 2001 342 in excellent condition, let me know. I have about 130 hours and always stored on a trailer. Wife is bugging me to change.

Dave,
The 342 is a great boat, as is the 38. I loved my 342 and never had any problems with it. The 38's more of a cruiser - it'll top out around 65, whereas the 342 will top out around 70 or so.
More room with the 38 is mostly due to the extra beam, not the extra length. I have friends that have them and swear by them. I had a 342 and loved it but just wanted a little bit more room.
You can still take the 342 out by yourself if you wanted to - the 38 is most likely a two-person operation but if you have people at the dock handling your lines as you come in you should be fine. Where I boat we have locks and I wouldn't take either one through without 1 additional person on the 342 and 2 on the 38.

Great info, thanks for sharing. I have been in the 342 and seen all it has to offer, it seemed real nice. I have never been in a 38. There aren't many of either of them on the west coast so its hard to find one to check out...The size, weight and fuel usage of the 38 may be too much for me, we do trailer occasionally which makes the 38 even harder for me to justify. If I lived on a waterway and had a boat lift with the thing just outside it would be a no brainer for me to pick the 38.
I need to weigh the two choices very carefully in the next month or two...thanks again for sharing.
