Cutting access hole on 29' outlaw
While changing the trim indicator cables on my 29' outlaw, I'm finding it very tight getting at the back of the indicator panel. I did manage to get it apart and pull out the old cables, but to put in the new ones I'd like to have more access.
I'm looking at the panel between the cabin and the back of the dash and thinking about cutting a larger hole in it to be able reach the back of the indicator. I pulled back the upholstry and found a 4" hole way at the bottom so it is no help. Anyone ever done this? Do you think this panel is structural? It seems to just be a part of the innerliner, but I don't want to do anything to weaken the boat.
I'd like to cut out about a 12"x12" piece and make it a removable panel so if need be later I can just pull it out again. And just in case your wondering, yes I would re-upholster it and make it look nice.
Any comments greatly appericated.
