single engine 29 outlaw?
#11
Twin 29's are ass heavy with big blocks. I would assume that is why the single engine guys say the single rides better. Either that or the single 29's are so slow the rough water is moving faster than the boat.
I will say that my boat rides better now with the boxes & 380 tabs than it did without them.

If speed is not an issue a 29ft outlaw with a single motor rides as good as my 33ft outlaw. I almost bought one from Big Thunder 2 years ago; we took it out on a test ride Sunday of Memorial Day weekend at 1pm. The boat handled incredible at 50 mph on the main channel at the 7mm hitting 3-4ft. waves. From a dead stop the boat did excellent as well although it only had 1/8 of a tank of fuel. I have talked to a lot of 29 single owners whenever one was docked at a bar, not one owner had anything bad to say about the boat as long as you are OK with only running WOT 52 and cruising at 40 mph. Speaking from experience with my last boat, there is a huge difference what a stock gaffrig liquid filled speedo reads compared to a GPS speedo by Livorsi. I made the jump from a 25 outlaw to a 33 outlaw with twin 496 HO; while the 29 may ride as good as my 33 there is no comparison when you run over 70mph down the main channel. Good luck in your decision, if you ask me the ultimate decision you need to decide is what speed do you want to run on the lake

Thanks for the replies, I kinda thought a single that big would be slow (unless you're packing 1000hp in it). I'd like the smooth ride, but the lack of speed would drive me crazy!!

600HP WOULD GET YOU 72 TO 73GPS, 850HP WOULD BE 80PLUS, I know the 2 05 sutphen 30s that came with 850hp and there doing 85 gps, now one is getting between 1000 and 1200hp this spring trying for 95 he hopes.

just seems to me that a stock 29 with twins would be more reliable then getting a single make 850HP.

the right engine builder can make 850hp reliable with a blowered 540 or 598cu. in. na, I was out in the sutphen 850,5 to 6 ft sea when they called off the cape race because the wind was blowing 25 to 35mph or higher that thing just cut through the waves yes we got air lots but it was like in a pro 2 truck nice. we had a twin 30 with about 1200hp next to us I thought we had a better ride more level less weight in the back.
