Default ? about putting in a depth gauge

I have a 2005 275 and am going to put in a depth gauge. The question I have is, is there an easy way to place it above the trim tabs indicators? I haven't look yet but my dad has since it is in there garage during the winter but he said there wasn't a way to get to that location when he took the dash out. He said maybe if we take the speaker out in the cabin we might be able to reach it. Again I haven't looked myself yet. It's to the right of the gauges above the trim indicators. I've seen them located there so I know they can.

Thanks.

I didn't get this option either when I bought mine. I had my current dealer put it in where the factory would have for around $200. From what I can remember - it cost ~$375 total out the door.

Use a through hull then you don't have to mount it outside the boat and drill holes...

I have the one that will sit in the bilge. It's trying to put it in the dash. My dad took the dash off and I thought he said he couldn't get over to the side where I want to put it and I know it can go there because that's where I see most of them. But I haven't checked to see for myself.

Stuck - is your boat a step hull? If it is the sender will need to be installed in FRONT of the first step. If you don't it won't work with the boat planed out.

Take the speaker out and reach up. You will feel the area where you want it to be.

Get the correct size hole saw, tape it off and drill your hole.

I added the Clarion remote next to the steering wheel - it was pretty easy to do. You definitely want the depth finder up above the trim tabs, it is the best place to see it.

I may have some pictures I took through the speaker hole. When I get around my home pc I will take a look.
