Hey GottaHaveIt,

I saw your picture that showed 70mph @5200rpm. I assume you are running a 25” 3 blade. If so, you may be selling yourself short. In January 1999, Powerboat Magazine tested a 25 Outlaw with an HP500EFI. They were turning a 25” 3 blade Mirage Plus at 5200 rpm and saw a radar speed of 72.5 mph.

Hi everyone.
Here is my Baja. It is a 1998 Boss 272 that is powered by a professionally built, balanced and blueprinted 502 incorporating an M1 Procharger. The HP rating is approx. 618. It will run 85 MPH (on reg. Gaffrig speedo).
Hard to imagine I'm dropping this boat in the water in 9 weeks. We are in the midst of a major snow storm that is expected to dump a foot of snow on us! Winter SUCKS!!!

GottaHaveIt

Then the fact that you are turning a 23” at 5200 may be bad news. If they got 72.5mph turning a 25 @5200 then you may only be making 66mph turning a 23 @5200 according to the math - hell, who knows.

Nonetheless, I love the pictures you posted. I get really jealous when I see your engine room and how detailed it is. That’s one thing I really miss. The boat I have now offers no room to get inside the engine room for detailing. I do the best I can, but I will never be able to detail it like you single engine boys. My previous boat was a 24 Outlaw and I was always in the engine room shining up everything.

Dude your 27 is slick! I need to play in
your neck of the woods. Sure would be
fun. I am guessing you run on Lake
Mich on on occasion? I've been in a 30'
fishing boat on Lake Mich and was it ever rough!
Swells were so big that
you felt like you were in a huge bowl
when you were surrounded by them!

29 OUTLAW, thanks for the kind remarks.
I have a couple of projects this summer
for my 25, one is to install roller rockers
to replace the stock rocker arms. The
other is to splatterpaint the engine bay.
I also have to install the Perko and 2nd
battery that I have been putting off for
two seasons now!

Thanks Chris (my fellow Team Baja Marine member). I actually run on series of 13 interconnected lakes here in Antioch called the "Chain of Lakes". It's a neat area. Lots of bars, restuarants, lot of thongs (in the summer), boat races every Thursday night.
I am planning on running my boat a few times in Lake Michigan this year.
Your Baja is great as well. You seem to be a fanatic about your boat like me!
Take care. Talk to you on TBM.
Steve.

This isn't very clear but its all I have. Mine is the little old blue one. Pretty sure mines probably the oldest one on the board. Thirsty Turtle and another Baja that we run with are in the background. Wildchild212 took the picture from his Baja. There are also a couple more Bajas that we run with. They are all over up here.

Here it is. I wish it was a better pic, but it's all I had. I also wish it was 15 mph faster and 5 feet longer.
