Took delivery a few weeks ago of a 2001 Hammer with a 7.4MPI.

At start and idle the oil pressure gauge is pretty much centered. It gradually increases with higher throttle to nearly the "80" mark at WOT.

Is this bad, or am I freaking out over nothing? If it's bad, what could cause it and what are some possible remedies?

That's way up there!
80psi is unacceptable. First thing to do is to confirm the reading, it may be a bad sender or gauge. If it's truly that high, you could have a clogged filter or a blockage in the line somewhere. Either way, I'd get it looked at. WOT max OP should be somewhere between 40-50psi.

What oil are you running? What is your oil and water temp?

Have no idea what oil. Engine is at about 6.5 hours, it's whatever the dealer put in it.

Temp gauges are stragith up. No problem indicated there.
