I know it sound crazy but check your props and make sure they are tight,I had to same issue with my port engine,would not do it on the trailer and would not do it on the dyno either,
found the port prop brass insert bad and would knock at around 4000 rpm and the noise would transfer up the drive and in the engine,sounded like the engine was going to come apart.
