25 Outlaw Sound System
Does anyone own a 25 Outlaw with a FACTORY Clarion sound system that has an amp (apx 400) or sub combination? I am installing a Clarion Amp with one sub and was curious as where the factory chose to mount the amp. I plan to mount it under the rear bench seat. I thought about the cabin, but was concerned with the amp getting to hot without the proper air flow. Thanks in advance.

I had 2001 25 Outlaw with the Clarion. My amp was installed under the rear bench on the port side. The sub woofer was monted in the middle of the rear bench front panel.

IF you take out your glovebox (4 screws) and your radio there is a whole lotta room there. I glued two small strips of wood and mounted the amp right there. Leaves your bench seat space wide open and its high and dry. just my .02

Mounted my two APX 400's in the cabin on the buckhead behind the radio. No problems with them getting two hot in 95+ Florida heat with the system jamming. There is a hell of a lot more ventitation in the cabin than under the back seat. Especially when you pile lifejackets or whatever else down there. It is pretty easy to run the wires down the gunnels. Mounted two 10" Clarioin subs in the panel under the back bench. ITS GREAT NOW I CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THE STEREO WHEN I AM RUNNING FAST.

I agree with JAX25OUTLAW - I have a 272 Shooter and mounted 2 subs in the panel under the rear bench and secured 2 400 Watt amps on the portside bulkhead in the cabin - this will provide more than enough ventilation and will keep the amps dry in the rough stuff... I would stay away from mounting the amps under the rear bench - depending on the type and style of amp, it could be an expensive replacement item in the future.
Also - spend the $ and get a cross over to support a separate amp for the main speakers (6.5) and the subs. this will improve the overall sound quality and provide enough power to drive the subs......
