Hey everyone,I'm looking for info regarding 1996 Baja 29/OS. I don't know much about them. Are the stringers in this boat an issue like the Outlaws? The boat I'm looking at has 7.4's(bummer),with 240 hrs. What kind of speed should it have? I'm guessing mid 60's. Right now I don't know all the specifics of the boat, asking 42k. Is it worth looking at? I'd be glad to hear all pros and cons. Thanks

RC Congel's had a 1994 290 for that price, but they sold it yesterday. I wanted to check it out, but never got a chance. From other pictures I've seen of them... the interiors look a little dated but the hulls look pretty close to the 302.

I think the old 29 looks good. Kind of like a 272 on steroids.
I don't think you can compare it's stinger system to that of a modern day 29 Outlaw. It would be like comparing apples to ceiling fans, i.e. just too much difference.
There's one good thing about buying a boat that old - if it hasn't broken by now, it probably never will.

If your talking about the 290, one thing to remember is that they had a 21* deadrise. Had one Baja dealer tell me that he had a lot of unhappy owners and that he would not stock any more 290s. He claimed the boat didn't ride good at all. They did run pretty fast. Powerboat tested one in the early 90's that ran 72 w/ 300 hp 7.4s. They did have good looking lines. There is one 290 in my area and I think it's a good looking boat. The owner is a friend of a friend, I'll see if I can get him to post his opinions of the boat.

Thanks for the replies guys.I'm still waiting for the dealer to get back to me with all the details.I'm looking for something alittle faster than my 24 outlaw and with more room for some overnighters. The price seemed good.
