Default boss 272 help

I just picked up a 98 272 with a 502 mag mpi.. I just had the dist. Cap and rotor replaced ( old one had alot of corrosion).. yesterday I was running a stelleto turbo 23-4 blade and ran 4800rpm at about 65.. today I ran the mirage plus 23 3-blade and only hit 62mph & 4600 rpm.. weather was 95 and humid... Rough water.. can someone help me in the direction I need to go? I guess in confused why the 23-4 turned more rpm.. when I rode in the boat at purchase, it ran 64 with the 23.. any advise appreciated, thanks

I'm not familiar with the four blade you're running, or what you consider rough water, but the M+23 is a POS out of the box. It was prolly blowing out on you like a mofo.

It will however be a great all around prop if you get the proper tune on it from someone who knows the boat, like Brett. After the lab job I can turn it 4750ish at 66 in the heat.

I was wrong about that 23/4 it's not a steletto.. not really sure the brand.. It just has yellow stickers that say turbo... Anyway, I am considering the labbing of the prop but am also considering trying a mirage plus 22 4 blade.. Anyone tried one of these?

I feel your pain, but now I'm really going to mess you up.... I have a 99 272 with the 502, I'm running a Merc Turbo II 3 blade, 25p at 5400, avg. 67-69 on GPS and topping at 71. I think I'm going up to a 26/27p since I have the rpm's and try to pick up a few more. I have NO IDEA what is different, but she pops up on plane like a champ (unless she's really loaded down in the back with people) then settles on the pad and straight up runs. And she LOVES trim, rides with about 4' of boat left on the surface at just below half way on the gauge, quick bump up and you get a 35 foot rooster tail.

There is no such prop. Mirage props are "odd numbered" and are three blades. Bravo one you're thinking of maybe?

I wondered how you got 5400 with a 25p......the 35 foot rooster tail explains that

No, it won't blow out. But it will tear your drive up (sooner or later). That (5 blade) definately aint the prop for your boat.

All I'm saying is Bblades has a good tune/recipe for a M+ 23 on your boat. Call Brett and save yourself some time and money.
