Metal Flake Paint - What happened to it?
My father and I have this conversation yearly at boat shows. Why is it that Metal Flake is only used on Bass Boats.
My 1990 Baja 196 ESS is a dark blue/black metal flake with 2 different silver stripes, both in metal flake.
Now, I understand it may be a style thing, but usually things like this come and go. I have seen some metal flake decals and stuff on ski boats, but never a true gelled in metal flake.
Don't get me started about boat decals, I think it's lame that nearly every boats stripes now have decals for their stripes instead of being gelled in.

I had a 1979 Cobra jet 17'7" v hull with jet drive, was blue and silver metal flake, was a badd azz MOFO!!!
I used to tow it with my converted to 4wd EL CAMINO with gumbo mdders and proudly parked it in my TRAILER PARK right out front of MY TRAILER!!! Had the name acrossed the back like every other hillrod: LOVE SHACK 2 !!! I even got a matching TATOO of the boat on my ARM!! That biotch was a PUZZY magnet, when you pulled up in front of the bar wit it dem women just THREW themselves at ME!! It even RAN a couple times but not towards the end, I just DISPLAYED it as a STATUS symbol!!!!!!!!!!

Metal flake still has its place. I love seeing older Bajas from back in the day that people have kept in mint condition with metal flake. I could do without the teal, pink & purples of the 90s, but if it was in mint condition Id buy it.
