And since we are getting back on topic, I think the fact is that in dogs, boats, motorcycles, exotic cars, women, you name it, there is always a spectrum and some get off by trashing those that are deemed to be lesser among the spectrum than the one they have (I was going to say "own", but the feminists would get pissed). I happen to own a 93 Ferrari Mondial T (hence the reference to the red convertible with a yellow horse that totally blew her dress off) - it is the car I always wanted and I fit in it (I can't say the same for most Ferraris). It is also at the butt end of the Ferrari world and I get condescending looks and comments from time to time when in the company of fellow Ferrari-istas. And I say, "so what?" Like go fasts, chicks dig it for its looks and the fact that it is a Ferrari. They may gravitate to a 430 if we are parked side by side, but they sure love mine when it is alone at the valet stand and, hey, I am in the club and have a great car that I love and could afford without selling one of my other toys, and I don't have any plans to race or track my car so I don't care it your Fcar is newer, faster, or whatever. That doesn't mean that I won't drool over it (we should all appreciate the beauty of the category of things we love - I love to look at beautiful women but that doen't mean I start hating on my wife because she doesn't look like some porn star I just finished, er, "watching", or hating on my Outerlimits because it is not My Way, etc.).

Does that mean we should be like kids in little league where everybody gets the same size trophy no matter what boat they have? No, it doesn't. My Mondial will never keep up with a 455 on the track, on the wow spectrum, etc. Similarly, saying a Baja is just as good as an Apache or an Outerlimits is just ignorant (use Michael Jackson voice and read it outloud). My job is to be gracious and friendly to the guy in the 3X foot baja that rafts up to me at the beach and maybe even say a couple of nice things about his boat. His job is to not say something ignorant like "I only paid X % as much as you and my boat is just as good as yours."

Bottom line - people trash talk because they are shallow. People are offended by trash talking because they are pussies. So, don't be shallow and, what ever you do, DON'T BE A *****!

Now, group hug everybody!
Well said. I thought this thread was fun, then it got serious......on an internet chat forum, that is halarious.

To each their own, for me....what ever boat I own, it will never be the best....I always want more!

Let's not forget this thread go out of hand by a guy spreading the crap about his Cig. Had it been a 2009 T/S gun with big power I wouldn't have said a word. However, it IS a 1985 TRS boat....not impressed. I put his boat here on my scale of what was dicussed in this thread

If I HAD To

-pontoon
-cruiser
-25 ft speed boat
-1985 Cig 35 maybe
-33 Outlaw
-36 Outlaw
-Mine
-42 Sonic/ Black Thunder
-39 outlimits, 39 Cig T/S
-42 outerlimits
-50ft nortech, 51 OL

Just my wish list, in order. Opinions vary, and who the hell cares right?

The whole time this thread has been going on Ive been thinking about us being one of the few boats to actually finish the poker run at Smoke on the Water, while the big boys gave up.

And lets not forget the poker run out of Cleveland when most of the big Apaches, Cigarettes, Formulas, etc gave up because of rough water, while we are out there in a 29 Outlaw. I believe there was an old Baja 265 hanging tough too, correct?

I think a lot has to do with driver, and balls IMO. Make no mistake I do not consider myself a pro offshore racer.

One thing I learned in motorcycle road racing is that most street riders use about 30% of the turning capability of their motorcyles. I think the same could be said about rec baoters vs. racers when it comes to big water handling.

I've seen videos of 2xft boats airing out in offshore racing so high we could drive our boats under them........then you hear guys on here say it is easy cause the waves are spaced further

Say what you want about Reggie, but I believe he is one of the nutty ones, he has quite the racing record, esp in the smaller boats early in his career. That doesn't mean owning a fountian makes you special, nor does owning a cig make you Don.

Doesn't matter, I found my next boat for big waves....I'm going up top!

Sorry guys for being a *******!! It's not the first time a couple guys got on OSO and got into a little argument. I recall seeing a lot of names in the thread that have gotten into it 1 time or another on here!!

That being said sorry if I offended any one and I do respect all boat brands and as long as you're on the water, that's all that matters!! I can't wait for KW seeing how we don't have much offshore boating going on in SD!! Need to get my rig so I can cruise up and hang with Tank and everyone!

Ok, I too will take "my lumps" the thread started out as some good old fashioned ribbing, started going downhill and now has NOTHING to do with the original post, definately NOT the reason we ALL come here.

Although, I NEVER said my boat was better than anyone else's, I did say things that where probably more arguementative than factual. So, for those I do apoligize.

Boaters are generally pretty "Brand Loyal", so, MAYBE, just MAYBE it wasn't a real good idea to come on here and brag about your "other" boat? Just a thought.

I have had NO problems with my Baja, its been a great boat, I am FULLY aware of the fact its NOT a "world beater" or real fast or pretty, but, its mine, its cheap to run/insure and its does 90% of the stuff I want to do. Sure, its not a lot of fun in HUGE water, but, I rarely boat in those kind of conditions.

I personally have set my sights on an Outerlimits, it will mean a PILE of Overtime and sadly, it will mean having a payment [which I HATE the thoughts of] but, if you want something, sometimes it means sacrifices.

I can safely say however, if [or when] I am fortunate enough to get my "new" boat, I would never dream of coming back to this forum and talking about how much "better" my new boat is, I have nothing bad to say about my current boat, and have found that most of the people who post on the Baja forum are really decent guys who have provided me with a wealth of information.

Appoligee's to anyone I offended, regardless of what they own, or dont.
