36OL 525 Mounts
Anyone else out there have a 36OL with 525's. I pulled both my motors for some winter upgrades and as I first noticed last year when I pulled one for a tossed valve, the motor mounts on both were in diagonal. I am trying to verify if this indeed was this way from the factory or if someone screwed up at one of the dealers that did work in the past. The engines have been out numerous times. Anyway, the front motor mount plates goes in front of one of the stringer L brackets and behind the other. As you can imagine, this makes taking them in and out a HUGE pain in the @$$. Any idea if others are this way and if so why? I would like to change them so the plate goes forward of both L brackets. Will make any future work a piece of cake.

does it look like there is an extra set oh holes, or something has been moved.
Any change would put that alignment off I would think

Every Baja that I've seen with offshore mounts has had
the L brackets in front of the motor plate ( which sucks)
My theory on it is that they could bolt everything up,
set the engine in the boat, align it and drill the stringers.
If they were behind the plate, they would be about impossible to drill the holes in the stringers.
My friends Cig has the L brackets behind the motor plates.
What a difference that makes.

I think you may be right. The bracket in fron allows for quick install at the factory. I saw some alignment tools on eBay for cheap. I think I am going to move the so both are behind when I reinstall in the spring.
