2001 25 Outlaw - SPEED ISSUES / PROP
I have a 2001 25 Outlaw with a 502 MAG MPI all stock with a 23p mirage plus STOCK
185 original hours
Best I get on GPS is 62mph @ 4500rpm 1/4 - 1/2 tank of gas with 2 people
I contacted bblades to lab finish, he says best Im gonna get is 2-3 more rpm and mph
Shouldnt I be able to get 68-69 mph on gps and closer to 5000 rpm
thoughts?????

I don't know why your rpm is so low but most these 502 25/272's run mid 60's on a good day, seen alot of claims of high 60's/low 70's but NEVER ran against one that could run that speed without some kinda upgrades, boats need more hp to go much faster, get your prop labbed and check your tach against something. My 272 ran a best of 64/65 with the best 23 labbed at 5100 or so, empty with stock 502 mag mpi, closer to 62-63 most the rest the time, Smitty

Im gonna send to Merc Racing to get labbed, Scott claims 4600-5000 rpm is mormal range, and he will do whatever he possibly can, as they always do

Your tach must be off a little, I have seen and been in many of these boats with 23 pitch props and they usually rpm about 5000-5200 with 23 props around 62-65 mph so the 4500 rpms seems off, Smitty
a Snapon timing light has built in tach, you could compare your tach to one pretty easy!
