Default Fast 232 ??

Ive looked in past posts here in the Baja forums to see if anyone has ever put 600+ HP in a 232 Baja Boss. I didn't find much, so I will start a new thread. I was just curious of the outcome or if there were any issues I was going to run into during the engine swap that someone may have experienced. The boat will run 62 MPH with a stock 330HP carbed 454 engine. I found a Merc 502 600SC that Im going to put in the boat instead. Please speak up if anyone has done anything similar....thanks.

Well.... sounds like a lot of money and time for a 232 but it should be fun as hell! This coming from a guy who had a 900 hp sc in a 272, LOL

As far as time goes, I have all winter now, its inside and heated, so I can pick away at it over the winter. Its really just simple engine swap as the 600 is 100% complete. Kind of a plug and play deal.( Im assuming, this is why Im asking) .....minus the hatch cutting for the scoop of course...... Im trading the stock 454 as partial funding to get the used 600SC...its not all that expensive for the engine purchase as Im friends with the person who owns it. Im doing this project just to do something different. Its gonna need hydraulic steering and some longer trim tabs,..oh, and a prop............ I really like the 900 in the 272! LOL!!! That must have been a wild ride! Im going to look for a thread on your boat.

I've got a nice 25p MirGe Plus that would work nicely with that setup.

Sounds great! I'm all about ridiculous power! I think that you're on the right track with the power steering that helps minimize the chine walk. I'm guessing 80+?

How did the 900hp/272 turn out?

I would also guess 80+ MPH with 600hp in a 232. Will definitly be a fun boat. You might be able to go bigger than 25p with that setup. Im hoping to try a 23p with my stock 6.2 this weekend.

Go for it. Just to give you an idea, I have a 21ft superboat with a 509 efi. It has some work done to it (cam, exhaust and a couple of small things). I figure I'm around 500-550 hp. Best speed is 87 with a mirage 27 non plus. The acceleration is amazing. Good luck with it.

I would make another deck out of plywood and save your hatch... You may be upgrading soon. Jus put padding and vinyl on .

Good call on the hatch! I will definitely consider that. According to the Bam speed calculator, a 232 with 600 HP should run 86 MPH. If Im within a few of that Im happy. As far as upgrading goes, you never know, but I just down graded to this boat after 5 yrs with 2 TOP GUNS, a 382 Formula and a 40FT Excalibur Hawk......I needed a break!
