Waz up J-L. That sounds pretty tight. I have thought alot about finding a 29 and putting big power behind it. No funds right now, but you never know about the future. I thought two 600hp NA 509's would be pretty damn neat. That or build two 502 blower motors for it. What kind of speeds are these guys getting, how much dough and where is it??

Wow sounds like a cool setup, the Baja catalog only shows twin 500's as the biggest, but there c ustom shop will do most anything!!!! if you have the money

they list 575's in 2002 brochure,
i think the hull can handle it,
i've been in similar sized boats,
not going to mention names,
that handled very poor,
this boat doesn't,
i doub't nobody would want to
spend the $$$ for the motor upgrade though.

When I visited the factory a few years ago, Baja was in the process of building a few "blank boats". These boats were going out to people who wanted to install their own power. Baja offers no hull warrantee when the customer installs his own power.

That sounds great, but no warranty could = big trouble. Anything can be done for the right price....

propped right that thing must be able to blow past I swear anything
Guys they put these motors in the 40 outlaw as twins,
Plus the 40 footer has ammenities that the 29 does not. Dude this thing with twin 575's has to freakin be a major bullet.
imagine 1150 HP in something around what 8000 LBS?
maybe less? 7000 LBS?
prop the ***** right and you have well over 100 MPH at your finger tips with out a doubt.
that is the reason for the post, Just seeing if anyone actually has seen one or better yet bought one with those engines.

What speeds does the twin HP 500's or 500 efi's pull down ?
Think about it
If a standard fountain 35 with twin HP 500's can get mid 80's
and low to mid 90's with the 575's
this 29 outlaw would be able to just blow by it for about 150 thou less MUHAHAHAHAHA nothing like beating the living snot out of someone that spend like 2 morgage payments more than you
Sometimes Baja sneaks something out that is just a missle in baja clothing

I don't think it would be quite as fast as you think. There's a guy out there getting 76-77 on GPS with 496HO's. Step up to 500EFI's and you'll proably see low 80s. With 575's, probably high 80's, maybe 90.

I love Bajas, but they definitely are NOT the most efficient hull out there.

then those boats are propped to slow it down big time.
there is absolutely no reason for twin 575's not to be able to hit 100 + in such a small boat like that.
The factory must prop it low to prevent insurance rates to go ballistic, tell the insurance administration yeah 80 mph
but we ALL change props to see what runs better on what application.
something like that could turn up to Im guessing 32 or so pitch
with some slip at 6000 RPM's or even 5500 you should be reaching 100+ with it.
Power to weight ratio is super low in this.
granted I understand hydrodynamics and a fountain hull is more vented and able to take same power and move faster but still
pound for pound that weight loss should be able to overcome some inefficiency in the hull design

my boat with carbed 500's has at best ran
84.6 on gps.
ran a guy with a 29 w/385 procharged,
these produce approx. the same amount
of hp as the 575 does, he was a little faster,
but not 100mph, ( radar claimed 86)
i ran a 2001 35 fountain with 500efi's
this year, down at LOTO, ran for about
3 miles, it was a draw, the owner claimed
we were going 88, ( do you see what i'm
getting at) i doubt 575's will make at 35
fountain run as fast as they claim either,
most boat tests done in magazines are
not done in real life conditions, i.e. gear,
coolers, people, full of fuel, and usaully in
salt water, so results are usually less than
published.
like i said earlier in this thread,
i drove another make of boat my dealer sells
30 ft, step hull, 500 efi's,
this was on very smooth water,
the boat may have been 3 or 4 mph faster,
but it had very poor handling characteristic's
the boat didn't like to go straight?
bottom line is: in real life situations,
those 3 to 4 mph would be lost, due to
having to drive it more coservatively,
unless you have a death wish.
the key to going fast is, being able to
keep the thing in some type of control.
the 29 is a "controllable" boat.
