Default Opinions on a 342?

I have been negotiating back and forth with the local Baja dealer on a new 2002 342, It 496 HO's with X drives, full hydraulic steering, and every available option. We are at $159k straight up without taking in my 320 Force on trade.
I would appreciate any and all opinions.

Thanks,
Jeff

Very nice boat. When we went bigger last year it was between the 33 Outlaw, 342 and the 36 Outlaw.

I like them all. The price is fair if that includes a nice trailer.

Would still have to work on it a little being a 2002 and not having the 500's based on what we bought the 36 for.

I found the 342 loaded and the 36 Outlaw loaded to be almost the same money, that is why we went with the 36. It is not as fancy inside as the 342, but more boat overall. There is a trade off, that depends on how you plan to use the boat.

One question, does it have a generator?

I wanted that to be my next boat,,, my only complaint was that the V berth is no bigger then the one in my 272,,,,, wife wants a 38 Special because she can stand up in the cabin. I love the lines on the 342 though.

Personally I think thats high on the price,, there are some killer deals on 342's out there right now.

Send me your email and Ill shoot you a couple links the wife and I have been looking at.

Dock,
Thanks for your input. Yes, it comes with a Eagle trailer. The dealer has sweetened the deal a little now, he is willing to take my boat in trade. He is going to give me 34k for it which I am satisfied with. At least I wont have to worry about the headaches of selling it. How much did you pay for your 36 outlaw?

Default 342

BAJAFORCE,
I have a 2001 Boss 342. Twin 502mpi, loaded. The boat is very roomy and comfortable. Spent 5 days on it last summer. Runs and handles well. Has all the comforts to make overniting fun, and the room to take people out and still be able to move around the cockpit. I am having alot of issues with the cabin headliner. It keep falling down along the seams. Check it out make sure the seams are nicely tucked in and tight. Baja sent people to my dealer to fix it this time. Picking up this weekend.

Frank,
Thanks for the info.
What kind of speed are you getting with the 502's?
I am hoping for 70 with the 496HO's.

Bajaforce, I've been looking at the 342Boss as well. My origional thought was a 33 Outlaw. Coming off my 24 Outlaw made that a logical choice until.... the wife sat in the 342. Sink, ice maker in the cockpit and a full galley down below make it tough to compete with the 33.

So now the search is on. I was at a dealer in Ft Myers this weekend. They have an 02 342 Boss and an 01 36 Outlaw. Both have 502's and they are ready to deal. 150ish for the 36 and similar for the 342. That's without any arm twisting. I live outside Dallas (Tyler) so you can see I am looking most anywhere in the country for a "deal".

Also, I've been told that there was a significant change in the cockpit between 2000 and 2001. Is this true and if so, what does it mean to me? One guy told me it had an impact as to where the gen went? I'd appreciate any help understanding this.

Thanks,
Bruce...
