Dude,

I have the 162 with the fixed antenna. I guess I would have probably just put it right behind the unit or off to one side near the gunwhale so no one would mess with it, spill a drink on it, etc....

That's my dilema. The antenna is small, but I want to mount it somewhere where its as unobtrusive as possible. Based on the instructions, it looks like it needs to have a clear view of the sky. Since the antenna can be mounted to a VHF type antenna base, maybe I'll but it next to my VHF antenna.

That looks like a good spot (I never would have thought of). Where did you put the antenna?

Look at the picture again, it is directly above the speedo. It does not get in the way of seeing the compass.
