Default Results of Hook Removal from 29 outlaw

Well,

I finally got to take out the '98 29' outlaw after having the hook taken out at the transom that was intentionally put there. I picked up a solid 3 mph and the bow felt a lot looser. The midrange acceleration was simply amazing next to what I had before. The rpm's bumped up to 4650, very negligible with 26 labbed bravos. I will try 24's just to see if the tradeoff in higher rpm's will yield more speed. The ever so slight porpose that the boat experiences in lower rpm's is easily corrected by the tabs and the speed gained easily outweighs this.

Great news. Excellent. Sounds like you got some very good results from this. How is it coming on plane? Any different?

It comes up on plane very quick. I can't really notice to much difference there. The best part is the midrange acceleration to go along with the 3mph. I do have to use th k planes now at lower speeds to counter the mild porpouse, but then again they were put there for something and i never used them before since the hook took care of it on it's own permanently

If you don't mind? 1) What engines do you have? 2) What was the top speed before? 3) Why would your Rpm's increase from a modification to the hull? 4) How much fuel? and last but still important 5)You mentioned slight Porpose....was this naturally accuring or was this a mediated attempt to make the boat porpose,ie: recovering from jumping a 4 foot wake or just gaining speed?

Thanks 1971!

N-T-S,
(3)The reduced drag of the hull allows the boat to free up a little, resulting in the increased speed and thus higher rpms.

Default Hook

I have 502's in it. My speed before was 69mph with 26 labed Bravo 1's at 4600 rpms and 72 with Mirage 25's at 480o.

Now the speed is 72 with Bravo 26 at 4650 rpm's 3/4 tank of fuel and 2 people. I am also carrying 4 batteries, quite a bit of stereo equipment and an anchor with 25' of chain. I can only immagine that I should be hitting around 76 with the 25 mirage's now, but honestly I am not willing to sacrifice the low end punch and midrange cruising for that so i doubt i would be using them. i will try with baravo 24's and the 25's to see what the difference is
