Question 24 Outlaw Question

Hey everyone!

This is my first post on this board. I would like some information on a 24' Outlaw I am looking at. It's a 1993 with a 502. Is there anything I should be looking out for on the Outlaws of this age? I am not real familiar with them but I have had friends with an H2X and a Baja 260. How will the ride compare to these other two boats?

The majority of my boating is done on the Ohio River and an occasional trip to Kentucky Lake.

Thanks!

Welcome to the board!
I have a 1993 24 Outlaw but she has a 454 in her.
I really have nothing to complain about with her.
I bought her from a fellow board member who took really good care of her. Make sure you have someone check her out real good before you decide to take her home.
Bajas are real good boats but if she was not taken care of she might not be the right boat for you.

Soooo, what does she look it?

How about looking at the bolster pulling out of the floor. They are only screw through 3/4" plywood. Also the rear engine hatches are almost always rotted out or rotted out around the screws. Lets not forget blisters on the bottom mostly under the bunks of the trailers or in the rear corners.

Good Luck

I wish I could help but I can’t. I had a 1998 24 Outlaw for 3 years and had no problems at all. I would still have that 24 Outlaw except for Mrs. Outlaw. I married her in 1999 and she hated beyond belief having to get on her hand and knees to crawl into the cabin of the 24. That’s the only reason I have the 29 now. My 24 came with a 7.4 but I put a 502 in it after the first year. It ran about 67mph with a 23-3 blade. With the 7.4 it only ran about 57mph.

I have a 24 with a HP 500 around 530hp, great rough water boat for it's size. They just need a ton HP to make them run, mine runs in the low 70's. The H2X will be faster with same power but the Outlaw will run better in rough water due to the 24 deadrise. Both are great boats & I am happy with mine. We run offshore most of the time & for a 24 she runs well.
Good luck

I don't like h2x's because of low freeboard and no bolsters, and not near the ride or offshore look as a 24, I had a mint 97 sst 502 with cmi's, AZspeed computer and K&N ran 68 gps at 5,000 with a 23" mirage plus, here is a pic from travis
