Anyone have a mid 90's 260 baja ??
Friend of mine just bought a 96 260 baja with a 7.4 and bravo.
Looking for some info on the boat. For example, all the lettering has worn off the switches and we are unsure what some of the Un-obvious ones are supposed to do.
also what prop has worked best for this, and what speeds have you seen. boat currently has a 3 blade on it. i forgot to look at the pitch, but it is tuning about 4800 but only running about 50mph on the speedo. That was with fuel fuel and 5 people. I thought the boat should run atleast 60. maybe it was all the weight??

Just a guess but I would think that boat should run 55 - 58. Check speed with a GPS, speedo's can be way off (high or low). If the boat has a transom shower then it probably has a switch on the dash to turn the pump on. Might be what one of his "unobvious" switchs is for.

Also the 7.4 is only rated for 4600 rpm. If he's turning 4800 with a heavy load then he needs to go up in pitch. Might pic up some speed also.

Re: Anyone have a mid 90's 260 baja ??
My '93 260 ran 53 to 55 mph on GPS with a light load when it had the 7.4L with a 21" Mirage Plus. With a 502 and a 24" Bravo 1 four blade prop it now runs 64.5 GPS. These aren't the most effiecient hulls on the market by any means. I figure I have about 18% prop slip. Kinda heavy and wide, too. With the 7.4L a 22" Bravo 1 prop will lift the stern and make the boat ride and get on plane a lot better than a 3 blade. Overall I think they are very well made boats with a modern design that still looks good.
