Showing My Ignorance..
Could someone help me with the differences between the 30 Outlaw and the 302? Is there a hull difference? The brochure lists the Outlaw as being heavier. Why is that?
I have been on both boats and the 302 seems to have slightly more room. The Outlaw looks higher performance. Will they have the same performance with identical power?
Thanks for the help.
Dave

Re: Showing My Ignorance..
No problem, I will try my best to explain this.
Baja has three series of boats basically.
Outlaw
Performance
Islander (open Bow)
The outlaw series is the true hardcore offshore look (cigarette style).
The performance series usually has windshield and usually has a nicer cuddy.
The islander is more the family ski type boat.
The 302 and the 30 Outlaw "ARE NOT" the same boat.
The hull is not the same, I really to not think they share anything except or Mercury Power.
The 30 Outlaw is a total new build process for Baja and it is probably the fastest boat to come out of their factory in a while. The 30 is a true 30 foot boat before the swim platform is bolted on, and the 302 is 30 foot counting the fiberglass swim platform.
Hope this helps.

Outlaw is true 30' boat, then add for swim platforn. Might make it a tad bit more heavier. But I'll put my money on the outlaw with identical power for better performance and ride.
302 if you plan on staying on the boat much and 30 outlaw if you don't and want good performance.

Re: Showing My Ignorance..
I have a 302 and love it but I think a 30ol will kill it by 4-5 mph with same power. I have not been on a 30ol yet or run against one. I am running in the Port Clinton poker run and I know that baja is bringing a 30ol but I am sure it will have HO's and I only have 454mag mpi's.
Just so you know I can run with any 29ol with the same power ....... they are really close on speed.

Re: Showing My Ignorance..
I have taken a 30 OL out for a test run. It had standard 6.2 power. It came up on plane very quickly and topped out at about 70 using the speedo. The ride was great as we were in 2-3 foot chop.
I have been on the 302 and the cabin seemed a little bigger but not much over the 30.
We have our eyes on a used 302 w/ 454s in it or a new 30 with 6.2s. Gotta find one on sale!!
Thanks for all of the replies.

Dave I don't think that the 30 ol will crack 60-65 with those motors. I ran next to the factory 30 poker run boat this weekend with HO's and it was hitting maybe 73-74 on gps. My 302 will run 66-68 all day with 454 mag mpi's turing 4 blade 24 pitch mirage's at 4900-5000rpms.

Powerboat mag (July 04) tested the 30 OL with stock 6.2's and ran 65.6 radar.
I too ran a poker run last weekend. FULL fuel, 4 adults, two coolers and tons of gear. 76.8 GPS 4850 RPM and tabs were at 4, trim 6, flat water.
HO's will push it 78-79 GPS in the right conditions.
