Thought that was Barry's boat # 7....but if it is the Sting, here is a little history.
When Mercury first came out with the big blocks, they approached me about putting one in one of our 24's. We had always built them with either single or twin 280's with a 350 cu in block and the TRS drive.
I agreed to try one and decided that I would build a boat for myself using my racing colors....black sides, white deck and bottom and yellow bootstripe. The interior would be solid yellow with two seats and a bench seat and sun cushion.
I was friends with some Formula 1 drivers back then and had gone over to Europe to attend a Formula 1 race in France.
While I was away, a couple of guys came into the shop and told my salesman that they wanted a boat right away. They were going to be partners in the boat and had the cash, but wanted an immediate delivery.
After explaining to them that banana boats were built as custom boats only, they looked over and saw my boat sitting on the trailer....."What about that boat?"
My salesman explained that ...."Oh no, that is Charlie's boat and that was built special for him." Well that was enough to whet their appetite, so they just started bidding on the boat......as the price went up, my salesman figured that final price would offset my annoyance at not having a boat that summer.
In the end we became good friends with the two guys and they put a ton of hours on that boat. When ever one brought it back from a trip, the other would take it out.
You have a really good boat there, good luck.

Take a good look at what Pasta did over in Sweden with his boat, especially the spider webbing on the floor under the engine. He is running a 525 HP engine.
We ran the floor wraps up the sides a few inches, make sure they are still intact...also check all the wood in the boat with a hydrometer to make sure they are not saturated with water....if so cut them out and replace them and glass em back in.
