That's the downside of OSO. We have the tendency to take people at face value and accept what they say as the truth. Most BS'ers are caught quick. Sometimes the pros take a little longer to ferret out. BS was a sociopath and a pathological liar. Sometimes it takes a professional working with them face-to-face to figure that out.
Agreed.

But also... the BS'rs tend to catch the BS'rs quicker I think, because they are wired to think that way. You are what you say you are, and of course... I actually know that because I have looked you in the eye... not to mention the fact that you use your name as a screen name. Crazy... but straight up real.

Or as was apparently the case, don't try to con a con man.

The bad news on this: there is no ending.
The good news on this: there is no ending.

The moral of this: there is no ending.

Like the old Skynyrd song- "Ain't hidin' from nobody, nobody hidin' from me".

I agree with that Chris. Personally I have no problem dealing with someone in a respectable manner to solve a problem. I don't think many other legit vendors do either. It's the piling on factor I think that keeps most vendors off the forums for a large part. I personally can handle that too being that hotboat is kind of like the wild west compared to OO and I deal with it in many forms there. But that's not relevant to this discussion and I think OO has a good opportunity here to keep the piling on factor out of it. I think your idea is good and based on the contents of this thread. A feedback area like this could prove to be a great advantage for members in the future by not allowing situations like this one to develop and flourish for so long undetected or unchallenged due to the fear factor of being flamed for posting something against the popularity club's view. What occurred here is unfortunate for many, OO members and vendors alike.

I also think you're right on on your view of an ebay type rating system. It was proposed on hotboat a while back by admin and I voiced my opinion against it for the same reasons you mentioned in your post. It would not breed interaction or solve much and can be easily abused by someone who just wants to damage a business, vs actually solving a problem. Not to mention its another thing for admin to babysit and police.

Steve, did you get a reply from Fred that satisfied your curiosity so much that you purchased many of his items for sale on eBay? boatpartsfl came in like a whirlwind and gobbled up nearly everything today.

Please share his reply if you did receive one.
Thanks,
Dan

Like everyone else mentioned about the latest run of events... WOW!

HOWEVER, I don't know if it was right to bring Freds stepson's crack addiction/death or Freds wifes alledged drinking problem to the board. These are private issues. Do they have any bearing on Freds abilty to do business? Possibly and probably did. Should they have? No.
The statements about being told to lie to customers about their orders, that's the inside info to be shared.

I'm not condoning what Fred has done at all. But business is business. That was personnal, private matters.

I'd bet there are a few members here who themselves do a line or tilt the bottle more than they should.

This is in no way a beef with Heath. I also agree with all, that he was indeed between a rock and hard place. Just a little more info than what 'I' felt needed to be shared.

Long duck, please reconsider........
