Geez, he could have at least been on the dock with a life vest and cooler of beer. (unless a race or poker run of course)

I have to admit..I fell for the entire Sunkin thing. I really respected the guy. I talked with him several times about boating related issues. It's almost scary now when I re-read his posts...and I bought his line of poo. Aside from all of the B.S. related businesses he had...what did Sunkin actually do for a living?

I spent about a 1/2 hour on a dock with him and that was enough for me to know I was done with him.
At that time I was offered a ride in the poker run on the Chief Apache and I declinded because they already had 5 people aboard and that is enough,I later found out he took the ride instead.

Genuinely a nice and knowledgable guy...but that was flawed by the highly successful and legendary person that he had built himself up to be before we actually met him. That was before I knew that it was all bullchit. I had him to my house. Very respectful.

The one thing about him (which makes sense now) is that he rarely drank. When he did he completely lost control of himself. A very good friend of mine and LONG time member here hit the nail on the head the first time that he met him in person early on. I wish that would have taken his statement more seriously as it would have saved a lot of heartburn.

He said: "Never trust a guy that doesn't drink or can't handle his liquor". That proved to be VERY true.

Actually not a bad guy. He would be happy to talk about all his adventures and experience but usually when asked. He was kind of self-deprecating and I gave him credit for being pretty grounded for a guy that ran a BIG TIME consulting company. Of course once you learn he was basically working on cars out of his cheap azz no taxes paid house with no pool in the back yard and doing some apparent hauling with a flat bed truck it brought the full of chit factor way up

Courteous, respectful, very knowledgable, well spoken , mixed along with plotting with an agenda.

Dont know why this thread keeps living cuz its all old news.
Perhaps its because a year ago about this time that the efforts of his volunteers were creating some great comraderie.

Of all the crap that was pulled , when one looks back its the complete disrespect of those peoples efforts that was the most unfortunate .

Some stood up and wouldnt accept it, some didnt.

Such is life.

Sad
