Gentlemen: When the Seller States he's bought them from someone else, is selling them for someone else etc etc The third Party stuff stinks of "Gee I did not know they were crap" The someone polished and clearcoated them ought to really set off the alarm -- that's really third party stuff like buying a newly painted car and finding everything under the paint is Bondo.

I wouldn't refund if that much time had passed. When I sell things I usually follow up with the buyer unless they reach out to me first. Once I get a thumbs up, within a week or two of delivery, the money is spent/moved/invested etc.
For all I know your engine builder fired up the engine and forgot to hook up the water and melted the aluminum exhaust. There's just no way of telling and way too much time has past.
It really sucks that you got burned but a lot of time has past. Sorry to hear the bad news.

I agree with the time line issues. But I wouldn't hang up on you. I think both guy's are good guy's and really didn't purposely screw anyone. If the buyer would have called within a day or two with the issue I believe the outcome would have been a little different. Sorry it didn't work out.
Same thing happened to me with two set of 7K Stellings and tails. Tested the day they arrived. Leaked like a sprinkler. Called the seller, he did agree to take them back but shipping them back was on me for $300.00. I wasn't thrilled but I was Ok with it. The big difference is he sold them to me as tested no leaks before they shipped to me. His test must have been cupped his hands a blew into them.
