Shouldnt he be bonded/insured or something like that just incase something like this happens??? The money was in his possession, he failed to properly secure it.

You have to tread carefully, my advice would be to seek an attorney. As much as it sucks, hiding the boat if they come looking for it will get you in trouble. Don't go from being the victim to hiding property, that's a whole diff can of worms. Your best bet is to be proactive and with any luck he will produce the coin to at least get your title, but unfortunately someone else will get hung out.

The only person you're fooling is yourself, you really should have done your homework before putting out the cash .I feel sorry for you because I've seen this happen before, but I don't see a good ending for you.
