Oh we sold all the ones we had made up for testing with no issues. It was just the fact no facility place in the states would make them up unless we paid for a min run of 10 or 20 thousand dollars worth. we might have had enough clout to go with 1000 or 2000 of them and go from there.

All the aftermarket controllers we purchased to bench test cost big bucks compared to ours and still caused the pumps to over heat. We ran ours for over a month on our bench and never over heated or had anything fail.

The failing of our economy just left the big manufactures little ones that might have built them for us had gone belly up.

sorry to hear about your pump issue,i have installed 6 a1000s in boats with no failures, one of them is at least 10 years old.you cannot run the pump dry.you must prime it full of fuel before you turn it on or it will soon die.i agree that the weldon pump is a better choice but they are pricy.

I'm sorry to hear of your issues as well, But I have been running the Black 1000s for 7 years now and they have pumped flawlessly (so far).

The biggest Issue with the Aeromotives or any other high volume electric pump is they need plenty of Voltage . I use 8Ga on all my installs , its overkill but it has very little voltage drop over long runs , and the pumps wont heat up as much. Ohms Law , as voltage goes down , amps go up , resistance and heat also go up.

That really blows hurting your new engine just due to a crappy fuel pump. Going with safety stuff is a very good idea. I ran a nitrous system in my old boat (twin outboards) that used alcohol as the enrichment fuel. Installed a low pressure safety switch in the alcohol line downstream the fuel pump. If the pressure dropped below the minimum pressure setting the nitrous solenoids would de-energize. Saved my ass a couple times due to a faulty fuel pump. I assume you will run something similar that will cut ignition?

Sorry to hear about the bad luck you had with your pump. I've drag raced with with Steve and his crew at Areomotive for years and the have been awesome have over 200 hours on my a-1000 and regulator on my boat with no issues
