95 convincor 28 ft w/525 sc
A friend of mine just bought a 95 28 ft check mate w/525sc merc engine last week. I drove it and rode in it several times this weekend and had a few questions for you checkmate guys. What is the ideal prop for this boat,it has a 24 pitch 4 blade mach stern driver on it right now that is slightly damaged. Boat ran 62.5 mph trimmed out at about 4800 rpm on tach,4 people 5/8 tk of fuel. The guy he bought it from claimed it ran 72 mph. How big is the gas tk and how much does one of these really weigh? We found stuff online showing 5500 lbs but you know how that is. He bought the boat from a guy on Lk st clare that had it one or two seasons that bought it from a repo sale, only has 140 hours on it. Does any know the boat, its white w/green stripes, had the name across the fairing,"heavy breathing"? Boat is pretty clean for the year, the hours are believable, motor doesn't look like anythings ever been screwed with. We are going to check the tune up,still has original plug wires on it! Thanks for any info,Smitty

Re: 95 convincor 28 ft w/525 sc
A friend on mine has a 97 28 Convincor with a 502 mag mpi. The best he runs is 60 on a good day light on fuel etc. That is with a 24 bravo 1, I can't remember what rpm he said he was turning. Genearally, people say that mates love hydromotive props. Just as a reference point, my 99 28' Nordic weights 4700 lbs dry with a 502 mag mpi runs at 62.5 - 63 gps and I pull away from my buddy in that mate.
62 for that boat with that motor seems awfully slow.
