Checkmate ZT 220
#2
I own a ZT240....love the boat. It has a 454MPI. Wish I had the 502mag or 496HO in it. It runs mid 60's. Great lake boat, runs well in the ruff stuff but you need to throttle it a lot and its very sensitive to trim.

Does your ZT 240 have tabs? I would assume so. Thanks for the information. I have also looked at the Stilleto, which is a little bigger boat. I will have to test both of them this spring to see how they ride. I wonder why the Stilleto hasn't been a very popular boat. I have been on this forum and a couple of others and only know 1 person who has the Stilleto.

I have a 240 with the 7.4mpi. I like mine alot. Its been a great boat. I have it for sale. Id like to get a 300 with twins so I can range out a little, having a little extra security with two motors. We boat on lake erie and id like to make a few Cleveland trips but its a couple hour run from where we keep the boat.

Eric....get me your mailing address and i'll send you some pic's of the ZT-220...The ZT-220 and the Stilleto are very close in size and bottom deadrise(19 degrees @ transom)making them more inland lake boats..the ZT-240 has 24 degrees making it more of a minny offshore style boat..the ZT-220 also has a double stepped hull. Let me know if you need any info or pic's. Kip*****Pureattitude...you should be running a bit faster than that..i would suggest calling Mike @ the factory(419-562-3881)and go over prop's with him!

I have called Checkmate at the factory. They said mirage plus 23 is way to go and thats what I have on there. I have seen very close to 70 but thats by myself, no fuel, cold day with a perfect chop! Its very fast for its size and hp. Most other guys running 25-27 boats need a 502mag to run w/ me!

Eric made me a believer!! 24 Hydro made my 229 a much more stable boat at top end. Also eliminated the chine walk which occured as I moved through the 60's. I run low 70's flat and stable. I had a Mirage 23 which won't see my outdrive anymore.

What purpose does the Step Hull perform?
I am trying to educate myself as much as possible.
Thanks
