Default -2 Imco shorty results on 253 hulls?

Anyone running a -2 shorty on their 253 Convincors? Looking for how much speed was gained vs. stock height lower. I am currently running a stock height Xr lower w/28p stock Bravo 1 prop reaching speeds at or above 90 mph gps.(current gps head only goes to 90) Any planing/handling issues? Thanks, Chris

What kind of power do you have? That is pretty impressive.

Im running 253 convincer with a -2 imco lower, I did not gain any speed but my tracking and handling improved. I was told that using a nose cone on boats that run less than 80mph slowed them down, i think they may be right. I turn a BBlades 28 bravo 1 at 52-5300 rpm at 75+. What engine combo are you using to see speeds above 90mph?

What is a -2 drive. Does that put it lower in the water or raise it? I feel I have a slipping issue due to my drive to high and trying to educate myself a bit and explore options to correct condition.

A -2 lower is shorter lower. It means that it will raise the prop shaft height 2" higher than a standard length lower. Generally, raising your prop shaft height will create more slip, especially trying to plane or turn. So, if you are experiencing handling issues with a standard length lower, adding a -2 will most likely only make things worse. As they say, a picture is worth 1000 words. You can easily see the difference between a standard and a -2.
Your problem can be a number of things. Prop shaft height , type and condition of prop, anything mounted under the hull in front of the drive, to name a few that come to mind. If your drive is too high, the fix is an easy one. You can easily add drive spacers. The are sold by most everbody in 1/2" increments.

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking along the right page but wanted to confirm.
