Stick with the SB and look for a good block and buy a 383 stroker kit and then get a set of aluminum heads (if your not running in salt water). Talk with Bob Madera about the cam and get a Performer intake. You should easily be able to get 380hp out of it and save a bunch of weight by not putting the BB in. Also if you switch drives, the bravo is about 2" lower in the water which will add more drag.

Or you can bolt on a super charger and a good exhaust system and go play!

Man , my first checkmate was an 88 enforcer but mine was the 330hp 454 and bravo1 , ran real good but was still just a 65 mile per hour boat , and you have to throttle past the chine walk to get that , i agree with building the small block you got , a few more ponies and loose some pounds and you'll see 70 alot cheaper then a BBC / bravo
as for the 2 bolt vs 4 bolt , if your not adding boost (blower or turbo) and your not spinning past 5k rpms i think 2 bolt main caps are fine
as for the alpha drive , SEI sells complete drives for 1400 bucks with a 3 year no fault warrenty , that means as long as you dont modify the drive they will replace it no matter whats in front of it
just my .02 , hope this helps

i have a 1985 checkmate enforcer 24' it curently has a 350 with an alpha one and it runs about 60mph now id like to get it up around 70. so i was wondering if droping in a BBC would be the answer?
and if i did drop in a BBC i would think id have to swap out the alpha with a bravo one
any input would be a great help
thanks in advance
